When is the best time to spearfish in Panama?
Offshore at Isla Montuosa and Hannibal Bank, the prime months for yellowfin tuna are March, April and May. Inshore at Morro Negrito, December through April is best.
What fish can I target?
Offshore in blue water: yellowfin tuna, wahoo and dorado. Inshore on the reefs: cubera and red snapper, roosterfish, snook, grouper and sierra.
Do I need previous spearfishing experience?
Offshore blue water trips are best suited to experienced spearos. Inshore reef diving at Morro Negrito works for all experience levels.
What is included in a trip?
A boat and captain, an English-speaking guide on request, all meals, lodging or island camping, park entrance fees and spearfishing permits. Equipment rental is available.
How many divers are on each boat?
Up to 5 divers on the offshore center console and up to 6 on the inshore panga, so everyone gets quality time on the water.
How long are the trips?
Offshore Montuosa trips run 4 days around the logistics of fuel and ice, and can be extended on request. Inshore Morro Negrito trips are flexible on length.
